Comic Relief

Comedians and local bands provided a fantastic night of live entertainment at BBC Three Counties Comic Relief event - The Big One - at Jumpin Jaks in Dunstable.

The evening started with comedy as the popular Scratch Impro group warmed the audience up with slick comedy improvisation games, followed by the stunningly silly humour from the part-Scandinavian charms of comedian, compere and actor Steel Wallis and the legendary musical comedy act Peter Buckley Hill, whose songs have become cult icons.  

They were followed by nine of the best unsigned bands from across Beds, Herts and Bucks - The Blue Teeth, The October Game, Novacaine, Phonic Rapture, The Raid, Kathryn James, Ross O’ Reilly, The Swamis and The Occasion, who rocked the venue until well after midnight, when DJ Luke Ashmead from BBC Three Counties Radio took over to play some of the best music around till 2am!

There was even a special guest appearance from Levi Roots, of Reggae Reggae Sauce fame, the man who persuaded the TV entrepreneurs on BBC2's Dragons Den to invest £50,000 in his sauce-making business!

He sang his Reggae Reggae Sauce song and revealed that he would be donating all the profits from the song to Comic Relief.
