Sun 28 Jan 11.30am - 12.30pm repeated at 2pm - 3pm Stockwood Park Museum - Mossman Building This session explores storytelling for parents and children with a chance to listen to a story, learn storytelling skills and develop your own story by designing and drawing a clothes peg with your child. With Richard O’Neill: writer, Romani Gypsy and one of the UK’s leading storytellers. There will be 30 minutes after each session for questions and work on your ideas. We want to get the whole town reading the story and discussing the book between January and the end of March. There will be lots of exciting activities and competitions for the whole family. Bookstart Time for a Rhyme For parent/carer and very young children to enjoy nursery and action rhymes together Weekly during school term. - Bookstart Bookcrawl Between October 2006 and March 2007 all under 5s can collect a sticker each time they visit the library. When 5 stickers have been collected they are awarded a lovely certificate. Five certificates to collect.
Loyalty cards All readers have their loyalty card stamped when their books are issued. When there are 4 stamps on the card it is entered into a prize draw to win shopping vouchers. Half Term Activity for families - The Hertford Adult and Family Learning Service will be running a series of events to promote storytelling based on the theme "Everyone has a story to tell.” Storytelling provides an ideal opportunity for families to have fun creating their own stories using activities such as "story shields" or interesting items and historical objects.
- Storytelling sessions will run at libraries in Hertfordshire, including Hoddesdon and Welwyn Garden City during half term week, commencing 12 February. Come along and learn fun ways of telling stories with your children.

This is an exciting initiative starting in Feb 07 in partnership with the FA and Watford Football Club. Watford FC will be working with libraries in Watford, North Watford and Oxhey. Each library will find 10 children, each with an adult to take part in the project. There will be 6 events, including a trip to the football club, a trip to a local bookshop to buy books, and an author event. Books will be provided. Travelling Stories This project will start in February and involve traveller children aged 8-12 from two local sites. They will visit Welwyn Garden City Library's Cybercafe for a 6-8 week programme centred around Stories from the Web and the RaW storytelling campaign. In the cybercafe they will be given the opportunity to develop IT and listening skills. They will also create their own stories and contribute to Stories on the Web. Their work will be displayed both in the library and on the web. - Stories with the Fire Service
The Library Service are in the process of planning an interesting project with the Fire Service which will involve storytelling. - Working Solutions
Working Solutions is based in Hertford and offers support to the unemployed. They will be running sessions introducing BBC RaW Storytelling in January and February at Welwyn Garden City Library and Cybercafe. - Breakaway Mother and Toddlers Group Libraries will be working with this group on BBC Stories for Families
