On 22 February each year, Rainbow, Brownies, Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from different countries around the world pledge to be friends and to understand each other better. This date was first celebrated in 1927 and marks the joint birthday of World Chief Guide Olave Baden-Powell and her husband, the founder of the Guides, Robert Baden-Powell.
In the United Kingdom, a joint service is held by Girlguiding UK and the Scout Association in Westminster Abbey, London. During the service, wreaths are laid on the Baden-Powell memorial stone. Girls across Beds, Herts and Bucks, are taking part in lots of different activities for World Thinking Day. They are also sending each other messages, some of which are published below. If you wish to add your own Thinking Day message or tell us what you'll be doing for Thinking Day, simply fill in the form below and send it in to us! Happy Thinking Day! |
