Ian Stringer

Ian Stringer

He's the tall dark and handsome member of the Sports Team - at least that's what he told us to say.... Find our more about Wycombe Wanderers Reporter Ian Stringer here.

Born 'n' bred:

Born in Blackpool - bred in Leicester

Last job:

I worked for Maxon, a 3D software company.

I wouldn't be working here if it wasn't for:

My Mum

Most annoying trait:

Have been known to be a little LOUD

Claim to fame (other than being on Three Counties Radio):

I wrote the lyrics to a World Cup song which reached number 8 in the charts in 2006 (Is This The Way to the World Cup?)

Most embarrassing on air incident:

After running from one studio to another, was completely out of breath when trying to read our Non-League round-up on air - and no it didn't sound sexy! Thanks for getting me out of that one Simon.

Weirdest place you spent the night:

In a barn, half way up a huge hill, with 40 other people and sheep outside (and they were OUTSIDE), those Survival weekends huh?

First record bought:

Doop by Doop (why oh why oh why…………)

My first car:

A Vauxhall Nova. Never got to drive it really, the toe rope broke when trying to get it home, it was confiscated at Dartford Tunnel and crushed :-(

My favourite place in Beds, Herts and Bucks:

Home

Favourite item in my wardrobe:

My pants.

If I wasn't at BBC Three Counties Radio I'd be:

Camping on the doorstep trying to get in!

My dream co-presenter would be:

Steve Claridge of course (but if Pamela Anderson was looking for work I would offer her the seat)

Realised I was getting old when:

I found myself saying 'policemen seem young these days'.

Useful tip:

Don't eat yellow snow....

Which football team, if any, do you support (and why!):

Part time Leicester City fan. Pressure from father as a child so I was given no option really. Good decision Dad.

What is the best sporting occasion you have ever been to and why?

The play off final in 1996, 120th minute, Claridge, goal, Leicester City are in the Premiership. Good whilst it lasted

Who is your all time favourite sports personality and why?

Gary Lineker. Never booked in his career, scored goals wherever he was and he was England skipper in my first memory of a World Cup, Italia '90. I always wanted to be Lineker when I played football, if only there were more role models like him (I am getting old aren't I) - oh and I like crisps as well.

Which is your favourite sports stadium?

Wembley. Go anywhere in the world and mention Wembley, and EVERYONE who knows football, knows of Wembley.

Which sports venue has the best food?

Roman Abramovich's after match 'buffet' I imagine

If you could change any rule in sport, what would it be?

Diving in football, it annoys me
