Starsign:

Aquarius - enjoy a little water with my alcohol !

Born 'n' bred:

Brocket Hall: Welwyn Garden City.  I'm known as a post-war "Brocket Baby"  and revisited a few years ago !

Last job:

….been in broadcasting since Methuselah was a lad  !

Football team:

England  (!)

I wouldn't be working here if it wasn't for:

Jonathan Vernon-Smith and Ernie Almond….they suggested me for "The Club" (so blame them) ..

Most interesting fact about you:

I don't wear a wig

Most annoying trait:

Failing to label video cassettes etc….makes every viewing an adventure !

Claim to fame (other than being on Three Counties Radio):

Bits of telly, when I was more attractive….Top of The Pops/Blankety-Blank/Going Live &
jury spokesman for Eurovision for twenty-five years…oh and presenter/newsreader at Radio Two since 1973…. Radio Magazine once reported I am probably the longest serving radio newsreader in UK radio.  It wasn't challenged!

Most embarrassing moment (not on air):

Walking into newly-laid cement near airport, while carrying heavy suitcase. This left a massive footprint going down at least twelve inches (well, it would…. being a foot, wouldn't it ?)

Most embarrassing on air incident:

Setting-up and broadcasting two half-hour Christmas Eve seasonal programmes for Radio 2…in the wrong order. It was followed by just about my worst Christmas ever !

Weirdest place you spent the night:

Frankly I don't think there was one. Attended a late party once at Pentonville Prison Officers Club.  With the peculiar hours I put in, I just grab what I can, preferably at home !

First record bought:

Passing Breeze -  Russ Conway  (sad or what ?)

My first car:

Triang pedal car…..followed many years later by an Austin Mini!

My favourite place in Beds, Herts and Bucks:

St.Albans Annual CAMRA Beer Festival(!)

Desert island luxury:

A pint of local Real Ale on Lundy, but don't visit on a bad weather day!

My hero:

Roger Moffat, a broadcaster well ahead of his time (died during 1980's)

Would hate to be in the Big Brother house with:

Su Pollard, Lesley Garrett or Simon Bates

Favourite item in my wardrobe:

Hard to say, it's time I had a clear out, but I get lots of positive comments on a vivid pink shirt I've had for years !

If I wasn't at BBC Three Counties Radio I'd be:

….at home on a Saturday night with my feet up !

My dream co-presenter would be:

Lisa Tarbuck or Harry Hill…. great fun, and we'd laugh a lot

Realised I was getting old when:

Having not presented a BBC music show for eight years….I  couldn't remember what was in the charts !!

Useful tip:

Try to think young, and you'll stay young….I guess !
