The Wanderers have agreed terms with the former Watford and Oxford striker Tommy Mooney and have signed defender Will Antwi, who was at Aldershot, last season.

This will be Mooney's 12th club and is a far cry from his early days as a trainee at Aston Villa, but with over 500 league appearances under his belt and well over 150 goals he is looking to continue his striking prowess at Wycombe.

"I made this decision in all honesty on the football side of it, I met John Gorman and spoke to several managers on the phone but he is the only one that I actually went to meet" Tommy Mooney explained.

"I went and had a look around the ground and the facilities and Steve who is putting the money into the club and everybody around the club are really ambitious"

"Before a ball is kicked they are one of the strongest teams in League Two."

"I looked at the way they finished the season last year and I think with a few additions that looking at the table before a ball is kicked they are one of the strongest teams in League Two."

With Wycombe just missing out on the chance of the play off at the end of last season, manager John Gorman has taken a pro-active approach to recruiting new players to his squad.

"I think a lot of that is down to John and Steve and their enthusiasm and desire to do well, I think any one meeting them would be hard placed not to be impressed by the two of them, I'm no different"

"I think some of the facilities and even the staff that they have on board there and the way they want to run the club, very very professionally, is admirable for a club at this time playing in League Two" says Tommy.

But despite Tommy's long career it hasn't all been a bed of roses, he has just spent the last season with Oxford United where he himself admits to struggling.

"I've gone on the record as saying that I didn't really enjoy the year, I found it difficult to play in that league, there is an awful lot of possession that changes hands quickly.

"But I think the way that John wants to play is certainly the right way to play football and if we can between myself and Nathan Tyson get some goals at the end of some flowing football that would be the ideal scenario" Explained Tommy.

It is the prospect of linking up with Nathan Tyson that seems to appeal to Tommy's style of play.

"Nathan got in the 20's (number of goals) last season and I got 15 which is disappointing for myself, I expected to get a lot more"

"But I'm hoping that between Nathan and myself we can form the same kind of partnership as I had with Sam Parkin in my year at Swindon when we both got 20 odd goals and almost got promotion there"

The prospect of getting back into the first team is certainly appealing to the striker.

"I'm looking forward to getting a foot in and getting use to who you are playing with every week which is certainly not what I had at Oxford"

"I'm 33 I've been around a long time and I've played a lot of games, I played my 500th league games last season, while I'm enjoying my football I'll continue"

"I think I've wasted a season by going to Oxford but I'm certainly looking forward to my time at Wycombe and I genuinely expect us to have success" concluded a confident Tommy Mooney.
