    Chris wins Big Bother

Eight Scouts battled it out in this year's Big Bother competition - but there could only be one winner!

Charades, comedy sketches and self-propelling eggs were just some of the tasks facing eight 12 and 13-year-olds taking part in the 1st Stotfold Scout's answer to Big Brother.

Chris from the Stotfold Monday Troop was the eventual winner, beating off runner-up David by just five votes in the final eviction after three days of coping for themselves in the Big Bother House (a sectioned off area of The Stotfold Scout Headquarters!).

"It all went very well. the best thing was that they gained a number of key skills. Those running it - who were the housemates from last year - picked up skills in ICT, media and literacy," said Scout leader Charles Kilby.

"Those who took part gained a lot of independence. One parent said they noticed a complete change afterwards when their son said 'I think I'll make myself a cup of tea'!"

The Scouts' website registered 6,000 unique users over the weekend and there were about 250 votes for each eviction.

This year's housemates were Ashley, Ben, Chris, David, Josh, Keiran, Phil, and Tom.

A new feature this year was Big Bother's Little Bother, run by the Explorers group - who are older Scout members.

The hi-tech operation took about 20 computers and involved running a cable 100m across gardens to get an Internet connection.

ICT teacher Charles said it was still unsure whether Big Bother would continue for a third year in 2006: "It was a big success. It will be very difficult to top it. We will have to think about what we do next year."
