Family group Voices with Soul consist of sisters Hildia and Grace and the latter's daughter Corene who all grew up in Luton. After making it to the final nine acts of ITV's X-Factor, and mentored by Louis Walsh, they survived the first three live shows to sing another day and were down to the last six, until Saturday night. They were one of the two acts with the least votes, and, together with the classically trained G4, had to sing again for the judges, who would then decide who would go home. In the final showdown, Sharon Osbourne voted to eliminate Voices With Soul, reasoning that G4 would have a better chance of a long-term recording career. Simon Cowell promptly picked G4, giving Louis Walsh the difficult job of providing the casting vote that would decide which of HIS two acts would be eliminated. | "We're out of the competition but we're not out for the count." | | Hildia from Voices With Soul |
After a lengthy delay, Louis finally revealed that he would be sending the soul act home. The girls were naturally upset but after the emotion of the weekend have now come back and are looking forward to the future. "We were upset on Saturday but we've bounced back and we know that there are better things in store for us" Hildia told BBC Beds, Herts and Bucks this morning (Monday). "From here we really must just try to keep our name alive by doing personal appearances up and down the country and then there's the X-Factor tour in February to look forward to." But what of the newspaper reports that they have already secured a contract with the manager of a former Spice Girl? Hildia confirms that they have been in touch but nothing has been signed. "It's not true that Geri Halliwell's manager has offered us anything" she reveals. "We just spoke to him and Geri has been supporting us during our time on The X-Factor by saying that she really liked our voices." Voices With Soul say that they have really appreciated all the support that they've had from everyone, including the judges and the people from their home town. "We appreciate everything that was said about us" says Hildia. "And we've had so much support from Luton. We've put it on the map again and we're not finished yet. We're out of the competition but we're not out for the count. "We were disappointed but we know that there are bigger things in store for us." |
