Comets are dirty snowballs and the remains of our early solar system billions of years old. They have conserved the materials our solar system was made from. Trying to understand how comets change when they encounter the Sun and analysing the material they are made out of will help us understand where we come from.
Dr D Brown (NTU) will tell us about the amazing European Rosetta Mission in his talk Landing on a Comet - The Rosetta Mission. During his talk we will learn more about what comets are and how the Rosetta Mission attempts to land on something that is as loosely packed as a snowball.
