Wartime Reunions - appeals
The One Show is searching for information on any of the following people.
Do you have a long-lost wartime friend that you'd like to be reunited with?
To mark the 70th anniversary of the start of World War II, The One Show wants to reunite lost friends who met during the war years but have lost track of one another.
Alan Ruttley is trying to track down Dick Harper (on the right in the picture) who came from Tredegar. They were stationed together near Celle in Germany with RAF Fire Service at Fassberg but lost touch soon after this photo was taken.
Roy Walker (far right) is looking for George Newton (3rd from left). George lived in Archway, N.London and both were apprentices together at the sheet metal shop at Handley Pages. George went into the Ox and Bucks Light Infantry and served in Burma before being invalided out.
Audrey Hurton nee. Audrey Heald (far left) is looking for David, Shirley and Jill Ridley from Lichfield Road, London who were evacuated to Mrs. Palmer's millhouse on Pingle Rd in Sheffield. Audrey lived two streets away and met them at Carterknowle school.
Geoff Gardner (back, far left) is searching for comrades. Next to him a Harry Smeeton from London and far right showing the leg, Charlie Robinson from Surrey. Photo taken at the Royal Navy Air Base HMS Bherunda, Sri Lanka, 1944.
George Lyons (left) is looking for Cpl. Fred Lovesey, Cpl. Jack Bullock, Sgt. Sam Buckle, Lt. Mackenzie, Lt. or Cpt. Pugh-Jones - and "much respected" C.O. Major Basil Kemp-Gee. Also anyone else from the 43rd Inf. Ord. Field Park. R.A.O.C. - 1942 to 1947.
Watch Gethin and Gloria appeal for these people, live on the show.
