More about managing stress: Mental and physical symptoms of stress vary between different people and they can include: anxiety, depression, restlessness, headaches, difficulties with sleeping or being short-tempered. By recognising these signs and using a range of practical techniques you can help relieve your stress levels. You can do this by taking on one task at a time or getting away from the stress in your life even for a short period of time, for instance setting some time aside to relax before bed. A good night's sleep is a great way of helping your body and mind recover after periods of stress. Doing some physical activity helps lift your mood and it also helps to relieve tension in your muscles caused by stress. If you feel that your symptoms of stress are frequent and more severe, you may consider going to see your GP who can assist you with a stress management programme.
