As The One and Only...grand final comes into view, we catch up with our five remaining acts to find out more about their time on the show.
Tony Lewis, The One and Only...Robbie Williams
How are you feeling about having made it to the grand final?
When I started this contest, the only thing I wanted was to make it through the first show. Once I’d achieved that, my goal was to make it half-way. However, once I got to the semi-final, I really wanted to get to the grand final. I’ve taken it a week at a time and now I’ve got to this stage I just want to have a great time with it.
What has been the hardest part of the show for you?
The hardest thing for me has been living away from my family. Some of the other acts don’t live that far from London. However, I’m a northern lad and my family are hundreds of miles away. I’ve seen my nieces once in six weeks.
What has been the greatest part of the show for you?
Everything!
What has been your most challenging song?
Angels was definitely the most challenging song. I’m a show off and I love entertaining people. But I’m not so confident with the slower songs. However, Carrie Grant (the vocal coach) has helped me so much with my technique. I just want to keep getting better and better.
What has been your favourite song?
Let Me Entertain You is my favourite Robbie song. However, I could only ever have dreamt of performing it on live TV! To get to sing it to so many people with all the make-up and costumes and dancers was just fantastic.
What would you say to Robbie Williams were you to meet him now?
I want him to feel that I’ve done him justice on the show. But, really, were I to meet him, I’d just ask whether we wanted to go to the pub and talk about football!
What do you want to do next?
I’m off to Barbados next week. One of the companies I used to work for runs cruises. I’m going to do two performances for them and just spend the rest of the time relaxing on the beach. However, when I get back, I can’t wait to get back in front of a live crowd and just be the showman!
