As The One and Only...reaches the grand final, we catch up with our five remaining acts to find out more about their time on the show.
Anthony Adams, The One and Only...Frank Sinatra.
How do you feel about making it to the grand final?
I didn’t think about the grand final at the start but now that I’m here I’m surrounded by cards and gifts and it has really hit me that I’ve made it through. The support is fantastic. Everyone is having Frank parties. They will be wearing suits and singing along to the songs! It is amazing. I couldn’t ask for greater support!
What has been the hardest part of the show for you?
I’ve found it difficult to go out there, knowing that I have just two minutes to turn in my strongest performance. I’m fine in rehearsals but when I get to the live show, I’ve been so nervous that I haven’t been as strong. However, I’ve just started to relax on stage and I’ll be in peak condition for the grand final!
What has been the greatest part of the show for you!
Everything. It is so different from what I’m used to as a van driver. I just can’t describe the thrill of walking through the doors of the BBC for the first live show. I thought, ‘Not everyone gets to do something like this!’ It has been fantastic.
What has been your most challenging song?
I think it was my first live show performance. I was so nervous I couldn’t sing. However, I’ve got more confident since then.
What has been your favourite song?
That’s Life because it was when I started to turn round my performances and really get so much better.
What would you have said to Frank Sinatra had you ever got to meet him?
I would have asked how he kept his career going for 58 years with all the ups and downs. I’d have also said to him, ‘No-one could ever follow you.’ I just want to be able to put across a small part of his career.
What do you want to do next?
I want to create a Las Vegas of my own in the south of England!
