BBCWorld Director says

ผู้ฟังมีอยู่น้อย - what measurement or survey he used to conclude with such statement? I don't think 65 years of service will only have " few" audience. If he only compares the Thai population with the muslim population , obviously it is fewer but if that is the fair comparison ? Is there any hidden agenda or political rational behind.

Is there any way we can do to demonstrate our view to the BBC World management for reconsidertion.. please do let us know.. I believe we all will join the activity/the vote.. I really could not believe such thing can happen. I am only BBCThai fan for approx 3 years but I can see the huge benefit and how BBCThai stay very neutral while many media in Thailand can be bought !... please ..please !.. Love BBCThai..

Thank you very much for giving my family and me knowledge in various fields.

I have been listening BBC for some 15 years. This is the second time I
write you. Three of us enjoy listening to your program on FM 97 in the
morning and 92 in the evening. I would like BBC Management to keep your
programs alive. All programs you air are of best quality comparing to the
US’s ABC, CBS and NBC. You are a part of my family.

Again, thank you very much for energy and time your staff devote for us and
other listeners. All of you are my heroes.

53. Dear all BBC's Thai staff,

I am very sorry to know that BBC (Thai program) will be closed.
I am an economist and always listen to BBC as well as VOA programs every morning before going to work. The financial and economic news from both programs are very important to me since after I reach my office, I will search more information about those news from other sources. Sometimes, I also listen to the BBC program in the evening on my way home, and won't miss the program on weekend especially learning English with BBC. I think it's very useful to improve my English.

A few years ago, I felt very sad as well when the VOA (Thai program) was ordered to close with the same reason as the BBC. Anyway it was finally not closed when a lot of its listeners asked for the existance of the VOA (Thai program). Therefore, I really hope that a miracle will happen to the BBC (Thai program) as the VOA.

I understand that commercial issue will be an important factor for the closing of BBC (Thai program). But right now the situation in the south is worse so Thailand still needs the BBC as another view of media
outside the country.

54. เพิ่งได้ทราบข่าวการยุบแผนกบีบีซีภาคภาษาไทยค่ะ ตกใจและเสียดายมากเลยค่ะ ฟังกันมาเป็นสิบๆปี และเป็นรายการวิทยุในดวงใจเลยค่ะ ได้ความรู้ สาระ และฟังทีไรก็อบอุ่นทุกทีเหมือนได้คุยกับครอบครัวอีกครั้ง ถึงแม้ว่าช่วงหลังจะไม่ค่อยมีเวลาฟังจากวิทยุเช้าหรือเย็น ก็พยายามติดตามฟังจากอินเตอร์เนตอยู่ทุกวันค่ะ ยังมีโอกาสที่จะได้ฟังทีมงานจัดรายการอีกไหมคะ เสียดายที่เราจะไม่ได้ฟังข่าวอีกแง่มุมหนึ่ง ต่างไปจากข่าวที่เราได้จากสื่อในประเทศ

55. รับฟัง BBC มานานมากตั้งแต่เป็นนักศึกษาเดี๋ยวนี้อายุ 50 แล้วค่ะโดยเฉพาะช่วงสิบปีหลังฟังทุกวันทั้งภาคเช้า-ค่ำ ขับรถไปทำงานและกลับบ้าน (ปทุมธานี-พระพุทธบาท สระบุรี)แต่ไม่ได้ติดต่อเข้ามา และคิดว่ามีผู้ฟังแบบดิฉันจำนวนไม่น้อย เมื่อเช้าได้ฟังข่าวว่าจะปิดรายการ BBC ภาคภาษาไทย รู้สึกใจหายค่ะ ตั้งใจว่าอย่างไรเสียวันนี้ต้องหาเวลาเข้ามาแสดงความเห็นในฐา! นะเป็นแฟนประจำมานานมาก จึงเขียนมาขอความกรุณาให้คงอยู่ต่อไปเถอะค่ะ เพราะเป็นรายการที่มีสาระประโยชน์มากจะเปิดให้ลูก ๆ ฟังในรถทุกวัน และสิ่งสำคัญก็คือ BBC มีความเป็นอิสระทางด้านการเสนอข่าวสารบ้านเมืองอย่างเสมอต้นเสมอปลาย ขอบคุณค่ะ

57. I am disturbed to read in today newspaper MATICHON that BBC is not only closing down the BBC Thai Radio but also BBC Thai Website.

I hope this is not going to happen. BBC Thai Website is the last resort for Thai people seeking the truth in many area. May be it is not up to the scratch as BBC World but absolutely essential for all who wish to be informed.

ทีแรกกะว่าจะเขียนมาหลายวันแล้ว เมื่อได้รับทราบข่าวว่า จะมีการปิดการเสนอข่าวในคลื่นBBCTHAI นี้ แต่บังเอิญเดินทางไปต่างจังหวัดเลยไม่มีโอกาส
สำหรับในความคิดของผมแล้ว ไม่เห็นด้วยการปิดครับ เพราะว่าทำไมต้องมี
การหยุด หรือระงับ รายการที่มีส่วนให้ความรู้และประโยชน์แก่ประชาชนด้วย
ซึ่งรายการทางคลื่นวิทยุในปัจจุบันนั้น ถือว่าเป็นรายการที่เข้าถึงได้ง่ายและเสียค่าใช้จ่ายน้อยที่สุดครับ
ไม่เข้าใจเลยว่า มีเหตุผลอะไรครับ เท่าที่ฟังจากรายงานการเสนอข่าวจาก อ.ส.ม.ท.
เห็นว่า จะไปเปิดภาดภาษาอาหรับแทนอย่างนี้เป็นเรื่องเป็นเรื่องการเมืองหรือเปล่าครับ
แต่อย่างใดก็ตาม ยังคงเป็นกำลังใจให้ท่านผู้ดำเนินการทุกท่านนะครับ

60. Dear BBC Thai Members,

It's quite a shock to hear the rumour that the BBC Thai programme will be closed very soon. I'm a big fan of the programme for quite a long time and BBC is the source of reliable information and news agency who "telling the truth" to their listener. It would be a big mistake to close this programme only for the buget reason. If this mail could be one voice that shows how this Thai programme is "value" among their listener to the BBC executive, I hope this mail could make them reconsider their decision to close our Thai programme.
