parade on Ayresome Street. |
"I
can die happy now!" was how one fan summed it up.
Dave
had his 11-year-old Daniel on his shoulders, and was ecstatic that
his son was living at a time when Middlesbrough FC were cup-winners.
It
was a miserable day - grey clouds drizzling intermittently - but
that didn't deter over 100,000 Middlesbrough fans from lining the
route of their team's victory parade.

| Fans
express their pride with drums. |
The
parade had horseback outriders, a media bus, a team bus and over
100 police officers as it traveled from one side of the town to
the other.
For
two hours the players, squad members, coaching staff and others
on top of the open-topped bus soaked up the adulation of their fans.
Horns
sounded, drums were banged, and Pigbag thumped out over and over
again, but the loudest sound was cheering.

and Hannah. |
Mother
and son Hannah and Christopher said the day meant "everything"
to them.
"We're
just so happy. Christopher went to Cardiff to see the match. This
is a great day for the town!" said Hannah.
When
the bus reached the Riverside Stadium, unbelievably, the sun came
out and shone on the cup and the team.

and his daughter Erin |
Middlesbrough
stalwart Colin Cooper told BBC Radio Cleveland he wished he could
have shaken the hands of every single fan he saw from the bus, while
midfielder George Boateng described it as the greatest day of his
life.
