Queen visited Darlington as part of her Jubilee celebrations. |
She
was in the northern half of the region the day before, visiting
Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and Jarrow.
We've

Colliery and some top pictures in our gallery.
We
also report on a streaker

confiscated!
BBC

| Golden
Jubilee and Music Live |
BBC
Music Live
celebrations across the region were linked with the Jubilee festivities.
Over
one million people applied for two special concerts in the grounds
of Buckingham Palace on 1 June (classical) and 3 June (pop) with
12,000 people from the Cleveland area chosen by ballot to attend.
The
two concerts were produced and broadcast live by BBC television
and radio across the UK and the world and also shown on large screens
in and around the Mall and elsewhere.
Our
nearest was in Newcastle.
The
proceeds (net of related costs), together with those from the overseas
sales of the programmes, went to The Queen’s Golden Jubilee Charity.
