Trying to make it in the arts? Need advice? Need recording and rehearsal facilities? Need a break? The Tees Music Alliance could be the place to get you started. Volunteer Co-ordinator Maria Blades talks us through the facilities. Tees Music Alliance (TMA) is a not for profit organisation situated in Stockton Cultural Quarter - offering rehearsal and recording facilities at Green Dragon Studios, a live music and theatre venue in The Georgian Theatre and creative industries office space within Calvin House. TMA also offers, gallery space, a training/ICT facility, event management services, volunteer opportunities plus training and workshops. ![]() Gilmar Ribeiro, G2 Photography Green Dragon StudiosThe building in Theatre Yard consists of fully equipped rehearsal spaces and a recording studio with live rooms and an isolation booth. We also have a hard-wired link to our venue next door, offering all manner of possibilities from recording gigs to larger ensembles. The studios were opened in March 2007 by Feargal Sharkey, former Undertones' lead vocalist and Chairman of the Government's Live Music Forum. ![]() Gilmar Ribeiro, G2 Photography The Georgian TheatreSituated in Green Dragon Yard, The Georgian Theatre is a 200 capacity venue, which is managed and programmed by the Tees Music Alliance. Opened as a theatre in 1766, the building underwent a range of uses up until 1993 when it was handed over to us by our landlords, Stockton Borough Council. The council has worked with us since then to support a range of events and our list of previous performers is huge. In addition to a multitude of home grown acts, we've hosted the likes of the Arctic Monkeys, Mystery Jets, The Kooks, James Blunt, John Cooper Clarke, Duke Special, UK Subs, The Cribs, Sean Ryder, Clint Boon, Athlete, Jack Penate, John Shuttleworth, Daisy Chainsaw, Lost Prophets and The Macabees... ![]() Gilmar Ribeiro, G2 Photography Calvin HouseAgain, situated in Green Dragon Yard, Calvin House offers low cost units for arts-based businesses. In addition to this Tees Music Alliance organise the Stockton Riverside Fringe Festival, with support from Stockton Borough Council and Arts Council England. ![]() Gilmar Ribeiro, G2 Photography The Fringe Festival's main stage boasts a site capacity of 10,000, which also includes a comedy stage.
