The night's big winner was Durham's Director of Cricket Geoff Cook who picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award. Cook had a successful playing career with Northamptonshire and has been one of the guiding lights at Durham since their birth as a first class county 15 years ago. He told James Mountford what the award means to him. Help playing audio/video Sportsperson of the Year was the Redcar Bears captain Gary Havelock. The 1992 World Champion led his team to two trophies in as many days at the end of the season that was marred by serious injury for Gary and many other Bears. Help playing audio/video Team of the Year was Middlesbrough Cricket Club. They had a superb season, winning two trophies and ending up as runners up in two more. Skipper Danny Evans spoke to James Mountford. Help playing audio/video Junior Sport's Personality of the Year was Middlesbrough Cyclist David Daniell. Help playing audio/video BBC Tees sponsored the Coach/Mentor of the Year category and there was a very popular winner. Dave Parnaby is Director of the Middlesbrough Football Club Academy which is the envy of the country, producing a seemingly never-ending supply of local youngsters for Gareth Southgate and Steve McLaren before him to choose from. Mark Drury spoke to Dave who was very proud to receive the award. Help playing audio/video Young Boro defenders Andrew Taylor and Tony McMahon handed out two awards.
