Place of birth:
Carter Bequest Hospital, Middlesbrough.
What's your favourite part of our area:
My house or failing that the view from the top of Roseberry Topping, on a clear day you can see for miles, or something nice to eat at The Tontine.
Previous jobs:
Always been in radio since leaving Boynton School in Acklam. I have worked around the country and the North East for various stations and worldwide on British Forces radio. I've been at BBC Tees for 5 years now.
Why do you love your job:
Better than working for a living and the studio is nice, air-conditioned, state of the art and you get to talk to some fantastic people and famous people too.
It's also nice to just let your imagination run riot. I also love music too and we play some great songs on BBC Tees.
Most interesting person you have interviewed for radio:
Bob Monkhouse… A true legend.
Nothing was too much trouble… even bought me a drink!
Person you would most enjoy being stuck in a lift with:
Paul McCartney. I recently bought a Hofner Bass replica like the one he had in The Beatles… he could show me how to play Paperback Writer.
First record you bought:
Buggles - Video Killed the Radio Star. Bought as a 'Pop-Ex' song from Belle Vue shops in Middlesbrough.
Where you are when you get most of your inspiration or creative thoughts:
In the pub.
Anywhere really. Things I see or hear can always make a talking point. Whether it's size of wheelie bins in Redcar, wondering if Portrack Roundabout will ever be resurfaced, why men in Yorkshire have such high-pitched voices and why is Yarm so trendy on a wet Sunday Afternoon.
Funny sayings you like to use:
Can't print any here...but... I suppose everyone I ever meets expects me to say, "Yer Joking aren't yer?!"
Any habits, annoying or otherwise:
I crack my knuckles.
Join Teessider John at breakfast on BBC Tees between 5 and 10am weekdays, and on Saturdays between 6 and 9pm.
