Music Features and InterviewsYou are in: Tees > Entertainment > Music > Music Features and Interviews > Coin operated boy ![]() The Dresden Dolls Coin operated boyBy Natalie Boxall Brian from the Dresden Dolls talked to us after the festival season about why Amanda is always late, what it's like coming from the same place as NKOTB and where on earth they get their ideas from. To listen to the full interview with Brian, go to the ‘see also’ section in the top right of the page. People seem to love ‘Girl Anachronism’ – why do you think so?"The lyrics are a comedic justification on Amanda’s part on why she’s always out of place – her mother had her taken out by caesarean on a specific date and she’s referenced this as a reason why. I suppose many other people feel this way." You make heavy and intense noise, but don’t use guitars.."I guess people react with shock and amazement that you can make this much nose with drums and piano, but we out this down the dynamic range of the instruments themselves." What motivates you then?"It’s the only thing keeping us alive, it was the only option for us." You and Amanda are a couple aren’t you?"Our relationship has never been black and white, but we’re not together even though it looks like it, but it’s a fun thing to play with, we like ambiguity." Are you going to tour the UK soon?"We’re coming back to do a full bite down in January and February and will play as many places as people can stomach us." last updated: 03/07/07 You are in: Tees > Entertainment > Music > Music Features and Interviews > Coin operated boy |
