Central Library, Middlesbrough

Central Library - back in business

Guess who's back...

After 6 months of being closed to the public, Central Library has reopened.

To see photos of the revamped library, go to the link in the 'see also' section.

Built at the turn of the century, Central Library is one of Middlesbrough’s oldest buildings and it’s now had a much needed makeover.

Library Manager Jen Brittain told BBC Tees about what changes have been made since August.

"We've spent £750,00 on the refurb and another £80,000 on new books.

"We've fixed the problems with the foundations, which started the whole process.

"The main library has a completely new look and the reference library has had some lovely new lighting put in."

"And for the users, we now have a self service terminal where you can check your own books in and out,  Playstation games for hire and we also have lots of new books."

The library is now open

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday - 9.30 -7.00pm

Wednesday, Saturday - 9.30-5.00pm
