I just want to let you all know, I had by braces taken off about hmmmm 7.5 hours ago now!!! and i know how much you hate, and how absolutely unbelievably frustrated you get, to the point where you want to rip them off yourself, but honestly, i know you won't believe me now, but it really really is worth it. two years of constant moaning has been totally worthwhile to feel as happy as i do now. i can'y stop grinning like a total idiot! :D Just hang on in there x

i had a brace for 3 years!! it was painful at first but got used to the pain, ive had them of for 6 months now and i have a ritainer but now i have perfect teeth!!! so its deffinaty worth it :D:D:D:D

I'm getting a brace really soon, i'm going for the play doh mould thing next week, eek. I was offered braces when i was 14 but the orthod called my teeth ugly, i walked out and never went back. You don't call a 14yr old ugly, even if my teeth are wonky vampire monstrosities! :) I wish i'd done this earlier but just glad now i'm getting in done. Don't let schoolmates or boys make you feel bad about having them, if someone bullies you or a boy doesn't fancy you because of a tiny thing like braces then they aren't worth knowing xx

I got braces this year. When I first got them they slightly hurt but only for like a day. After that you barely notice them in your mouth. They also hurt for like a day when you get them tightened but its stil not that bad. No one teases me cos so many people have got braces now. Braces are totaly worth it.

im gettin them an im terrified like ive never been bfore! i hav to get them top and bottom.i hav a list of things im worried bout. gettin them on. wearin them. getting them off. apperently IT HURTS!evryone sayz they aint painful but i dont believe them! and to top it all of I HATE GOING TO THE DENTIST! i have to get fixed ones :( and bein scared of the dentist aint gonna help, is it? they dont look good and i also have to get teeth out.and i went to get one last year but i nearly spewed cos i was scared. so no, i dont want one. boo mee.(sob) :(

I'm getting braces next week. I'm not really worried about it, as lots of people in my year have them, too. It's weird, everyone seems to be getting braces at the moment. It's almost as if it is a fashion trend! I am having them top and bottom, because I have an overbite. My bottom jaw is to be pushed forward, and my top front teeth pulled back a bit. I'm excited, but kind of nervous. Hopefully it will all go ok! Wish me luck!

Okay. Tbh. Braces don't hurt at all. I've had mine on for about a month and I'm loving it. I go to high school like the rest of you, and yeah people will laugh and take the piss but tbh, i'll be laughing when I have nice straight teeth and everybody has crooked teeth. Braces don't affect who you are or your appearence. My advice is to just live with it and carry on being you, because you only have to wear braces for a short time in your life. Its not the end of the world just because you have braces. I've also had four teeth taken out and that doesn't hurt at ALL. The only bit you can feel is when they put the injection in, but that only lasts for like one second. The only thing to remember is to keep your teeth clean when you have braces on and avoid breakages. You'll have lovely smiling teeth in no time. :D

i got my braces when i was 12 i was a little scared at first because i was still in primary and i was the only person in the school who had them when i got them fittied i thought they were okay the pain wasnt to bad and after a couple of days it was gone i never broke my brace and did what i was told so when last march i was told i was getting them off i couldnt believe it as i had them over 2 years i feel great now i love my smile with i hated b4 and now i still have to wear my retainers every 2nd nite but i dont mind i just love my smile and braces are a great idea dont mind people who slag you for having braces they're just jelous that they dont have them

I got my traintracks today and they are really hurting =[ I haven't had the wire put on yet so will I be able to have colours put on? I didn't want to have them but it was the only option because I had 6 teeth out! Hopefully I will get a Hollywood smile!

i got braces yesterday it dosent hurt when he puts them on but when they start to work they ache for 7-10 days. But i got purple ones and you can get any colour atall and also different colours and rainbow. For the first week try to eat soft food beleive me if you eat hard food it hurts!

I've had braces for about a year and a half, and I'm hopefully getting them off next month, but seriously - there's nothing to worry about. When I got them on, everyone was asking to see them and stuff, but they were forgotten within the same week and no one ever said anything nasty. It aches when you get them tightened, but only for a few days. I'll miss mine! Just think, it's only for a couple of years and then you'll have perfect teeth for the rest of your life! :) I'm actually scared about getting them off D:

Be grateful that you have only braces. I must have both braces and jaw surgery. And I have waited for so long while my friends (with perhaps only one tooth misaligned) had their braces at 12 and now have perfect teeth. I get my braces in December. And I cannot wait.

I dont care what my friends say!!! They ache soo much!!It feels like fake halloween vampire teeth - hate it!!Just had them put in but the wire came out so had to go back.Hopefully its all worth it in the end and i have lush teeth :D

Have had braces for 3 and a half months now, and are getting them off in a fortnight. I just wanted to say- if anyone calls you a geek for having them then they aren't worth knowing. I get taken the mickey of all the time- but it'll be woth it. At least, i hope!

I have them now... They aren't unbearably painful, just a littleuncomfortable, but that usually goes away after a few days.2 years of discomfort is worth it in the long run anyway. :D

I had braces for 7 months and I had them taken off last week, and now I have beauifully straight teeth. They werent very painful after having them tightened and so and so. They dont even hurt gettign them taken off. You should allways wear your retainer afterwards otherwise your teeth will go back to how they were. Always clean them after meals or they will be horrid when you get your braces taken off!!

I have a brace. I've had it for 2 years and still now. It hurt so badly when I got it, and the pain lasted for about 4 days. It also use to hurt very badly ever time I got it tightened. Now however when I get it tightened it doesn't hurt. I am very looking forward to having it off though, and although its not great at the time you get use to it.

I had my bottem braces on and then went straight into a full mouth op. They put in a chain on a new tooth and have linked it onto my top braces wire! I feel like a freak and everyone notices a 9carrot gold chain going from my gum to my brace! It hurts ALOT. is it worth it???

i didnt even no i was getting braces until i got to the orthodontist so i was really nervous wen he said i was having them but i have had them for 2 years and 8 months omg!lol i didnt realisee i want them off butto the girl called becky i have a gold hcain around one of my teeth but i have a train track on both jaws =[ the chain isnt painfull though so its all good lol

I've got removable braces and it is okay. My speech was different at first and eating took a while, for example it took me 45 mins just to eat a bowl of spagetti but they're okay i guess.

I had braces for about 2 years, when i had them taken out I had the straightest teeth out of all my friends.Warning to anyone who gets them though, it's not worth it if you don't clean your teeth while you've got them on because you'll end up with skanky marks! That'll totally ruin the point of braces because you won't want to show off your lovely new teeth!

I had fixed braces for a year and two months and they really hurt when i had them put in, but you do get used to them really quickly. Just look after them, and you will have a gorgeous smile afterwards. I used to hate my teeth but now they are my best feature. i absolutely love them. Stick with them people, think of the end result!!

I have had braces for a year now nd my advice is don't worry bout them, some cruel people at my school laughed at me but in a few months i will be able to laugh back at them with my gorgeous straight teeth! so it isn't the end of the world nd they don't hurt that much! remember people might just be saying that to wind you up so don't listen to it because everyone's different!!!! good luck!!!! x

I have braces. My bottom ones have been out for months but my top one is going to be in for ages. I have a gold chain to bring down a tooth so i am geting used to it. I think theyll be in for 2 years. Boo Hoo. oh well i will have the best teeth out of all my mates. ;~)

I've had my braces in for four months now and just want to tell everyone not to worry. Getting the braces fixed in doesn't hurt AT ALL, they just glue them on and attach the wire. This was the part I was worried about, but it was fine! The day they are fixed, there is no pain, but the pain comes the next day and for me, lasted around 4-5 days. I've had crystal (clear) braces on my top teeth (which cost £300) because it was my prom this year, so my parents paid for the expensive ones, and I have to say, they are working a lot faster than the NHS ones which are on my bottom teeth, although my teeth are coming on great. I only have to have mine on for a year, but then have to wear a retainer for 5 years! taking me up to being 22 years old! Every 8 months, when I go back, I get a different colour put on my bottom teeth and the braces really are working, with visible results. Please don't worry about getting or looking after a brace because there really is nothing to worry about!

I am an aspiring actress and I'm wanting to make it big in Hollywood, so to me having straight teeth will be the best thing to have because of all the cameras and attention you have focused in on you. Besides, I don't think anybody wants to see an entertainer with crooked teeth!Braces do not hurt it might hurt for less than a week and then you'll totally forget that you even have them on. You've got to brush your teeth everyday because if you don't obviously you'll when they take them off have cavities and then it'll ruin the fact that you now have straight teeth!

Hey i Got Braces Last year in october and that wasnt the traintracks its looked kind of like a plastic gum with metal bits on it but anyway i was finished with them by December and then i had train tracks and i finished with them in march so if anyone gets teased i mean its just that little section of your life and once its over you have perfect teeth so don't pay any atention to bullys (Y) i didnt and now i have such a better lookin smile :D

Ok everyone who's worried about getting teeth pulled out and getting a brace fitted -- if you're a big girly girl whos quite a wimp when it comes to blood or stuff , yer its quite nasty i guess to get teeth pulled out , if your quite tough and can deal with that sort of stuff then cool.. cause to be honest , the only pain i got was getting the injections to numb my mouth , and that lasted a second... It's not like your going to die or anything. Ok then the brace, ive had mine for about 5 months now and I'm sooo used too it i forget it's there.. right until I get it tightened... The only thing with getting it tightened the first time is that , that whole pain you get that you got the first time comes flooding back to your mouth , and yes it hurts.. for about a couple of days.. the next time you get it tightened .. the pain will last for about.. ONE day.. and so on.. it gets less painful each time.. Anyone whos backing out of getting a brace.. really DONT.. because my teeth are looking almost perfect now and your going to end up with better smiles than anyone in your school when you get them taken off :D!

Had my braces (top & bottom) for over a year now, and my teeth are really looking good already! won't be long till they are off and I will be flashing my big mile at everyone. lol. They are well worth it, most adults have them so it's not all teenagers, although when your younger it is best to get them in and out before you start work etc! my braces are cool! =D

got mi brace bout 4 days ago (1 you can take out).its pushin mi back teeth outwards so mi teeth arent as squashed.it hurts but not alot.it gives yu a lisp but i'd rather have straight teeth then have a rubbish smile..x

i have had my braces on for like half a year now and i should get them off soon, they keep saying that i'm in the final stage but they said that to my brother after a year and he ended up having them on for like 3 and a half year. I am really worried that i will have them on for longer. I just got elastic bands for them and i have to wear them constantly i dont like the way they feel and i also feel really insecure in my looks with them in because all i see if metal, and it doesn't help when my friends call me tin mouth. However, i am happy that i am still young so will not have them in my 20's hopefully!!

i had my braces last year, and at first i completely hated them, but i ended up getting used to them. i had them off today, and i was like amazed to be honest. i love my new teeth. however, i've been given a plastic retainer and i have to wear it all the time!! i hope i'll get used to it soon because at the moment i'm not liking these at all!!

I haven't been to the dentist for awhile cos she hasnt made an appointment with me! I have a tooth which grew over the baby tooth so i had the baby tooth taken out in january and the fang-type tooth has been like it ever since! and i have a gap between my front tooth and the one next to it and my jaw isnt aligned properly...do you think ill need braces? and good luck to all the peoples getting traintracks soon! :D

Omg i got my braces when I was 12 and I hated it soo much. When i was doing trampolining in p.e i managed to bang my mouth and there was blood everywhere, I had to leave school I though i had broken them, however the orthodontist said to me that my because of my braces none of my teeth ended up broken. My braces worked as a guard and it is because of them I don't have any cracked teeth. When I got them off i was really upset and i realised how safe they really were and now i have to be extra careful without them!

I got my twin blocks Friday afternoon [today is Saturday] and i HATE THEM!!! I can't eat solid foods or talk probably and they make my chin stick out and I look really weird! They are supposed to line up my top and bottom jaw. My orthodontist expects me to keep them in all the time and NEVER take them off even when im eating but i cant do it...its way to hard to eat or talk and when I tried to sleep last night i couldn't unless I took them out so I did and my mum and dad where really angry at me for taking them out. I have to have them in for another 6months 24/7 and 3months less time then after the 9months are up I get braces which are sounding WAY better than twin blocks. Does anyone have any advice??? Im really struggling with these stupid twin blocks!!!!!! :(

Im due to get fitted braces on my top layer of teeth, i need four teeth out and thats the only thing im worried about ! i hate pain and blood so i wish there was another way of making room for the brace if anyone knows a way please tell me. loads of my friends have braces and they say thatit doesnt hurt and i think they look cool especially when they get taken off !

Listen New people who start new brace it will hurt you at first day but then u feel funny in your teeth same happen to me...no need panic or think bad things abt braces cause actually braces are good. You will get to used like i did and you will forget that you have braces!!! I will never see my past teeth again! My teeth was sooo terrbileee but can't wait remove braces looking so FABOLOUS!!!! yay

At the end of the summer hols, i have got to have 2 teeth pulled out from the top of my mouth and possibly 2 from the bottom. All so i can get stupid braces (which i will have to have in for 18 - 20 months and then get a retainer for a whole year and a bit!) IM terrified and sooo annoyed (braces WILL MOT suite me ... believe me.. im going to look like an ugly duckling for the next 3 years of my life!

i have a brace and i'm proud. i even used the nichname 'beautiful brace face' for a while to show how proud i was of it. i don't know why i care so much. my big brother had one before me so i guess thats good. i think EVERYONE should see braces ina good light - becasue why not? me and my friends always used to wish we had braces! they aren't a total disaster - at all! mine have never broken! i've had 2 boyfriends in the time of having a brace. it really isnt the end of the world. if anything its the beginning of a new chapter. braces rock! x

hey guys. [: i got a plate brace thing on tuesday. (its called a twin block?) im not used to them yet, but its getting easier. i can't talk properly but i can take them out to eat and i take them out when i go out with my friends at nights. my friends have got used to them and after 5 minutes they forget you've got them. my friend even asked if she could wear it! i have these for 9 months then im getting train tracks. im quite excited to get them, i know it sounds sad but they look quite cool and apparently guys like them ;] lots of people at school have them and no one cares if you have braces. there's nothing to wory about. :]

i've had fixed braces (train tracks) for nearly a year, and i can already see the difference. There well worth the pain of three days after you've had them adjused. you can have so many colours and they can be alternated. e.g; pink blue pink blue.x

I have to get braces in about 4 months time. I was told that I will have them for 2 years, which means I will be nearly 18 when I'm getting them off. Are they really that bad? What is the end result?

I got a brace(one u can take out) It's pushing my tooth forward and sometimes aches. At first it was hard to eat but know it's easy, in a couple of months i'll be getting another brace to bring my jaw forward and then i'll have train tracks. But reading these comments have made me feel more positive, i can't wait to have perfect teeth, remember who ever has braces is is going to it's worth it!

I got my elastic separators in my teeth yesterday they may be small but they really kill i have to wear them for one week until i get fixed braces,, in exactly one week and i'm so scared cos i I'm getting pink or blue ones :)

I've had braces for 1 year - I hate them and they hurt alooott - BUT - They look lovely and will keep getting better i hope! I have them for abit longer, but my gaps gone and everything! So im happy :) Though they hurrttt :(

I got my braces on today and they were fine going on even though everyone told me they would hurt and stick into my gums...They didnt at all! But i have to admit they did ache about an hour after, but i know it will go away...and ill have perfect teeth :)

I've had braces for a month and yeah, they hurt once you have them in, but the pain goes away.Just remember to brush properly and don't eat lots of junk food - :DThen, you'll have a winning smile...

I've had braces for a year and I hate them. They make my lips stick out funny and there isn't even a set time when I can have them off, just until a tooth comes down. The option was to have it removed (which I wanted) but my parents thought it would be painful. Then I have to have a retainer till my wisdom teeth come down.=(And I hate it that people moan when they say "oh my parents wont let me have braces to close my gap" becasue I would rather have a huge gap than these for the next 4 years.I have never liked them and mine aren't even coloured - they are big and silver and metal.

I have braces right now... I was a bit worried about not being able to speak properly for the first week or so but I could speak just fine, it must differ for everyone. But they actually look quite good on your teeth. They have to stay on mine for a loooong time, though.

I've got braces, and to be honest they arn't that bad, they just ache a bit when you first get them on. Just don't eat chewing gum and tofee's and you will be fine. x

i had braces for two and a half years and got them off in march. it is well worth sticking with them and dont worry about how they look cos the end result is amazing! i hated them when i first got them but im so glad i kept going and they made me a more confident person

I had dental work done to me for 3 years. Now, my braces are removed and I have a fantastic smile!! I mean it's F.F.FAB!! And my teeth have never looked so lovely in all my life! My dentist even asked me for a model of my teeth because he said they were soooo wonderful looking!If anyone is concerned about getting a brace remember - a lot of teenagers have them too, not just you! And think of the celebrities who have had braces too e.g Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning, Christina Aguliera, and even TV sensation Ugly Betty!Also, think of the wonderful teeth and the wonderful confidence you'll have at the end of your treatment! Yesterday I got a removable brace (twin block) which is really uncomfortable and means that I can't eat very easily and my speech is affected a lot. Also, my teeth are kept apart so I look ridiculous when I smile.... However I'm sticking with them 'cos I want lovely straight teeth! I'm gonna have a fixed brace after these so wish me luck!

i've had braces for over a yearnow and no one cares. once i havd it on and went into school the next morning, no one laughed at me so theres nothing to worrry about. As long as you get perfect teeth, thats all that counts!

I had a retainer fitted (one you can take out) and i can already tell the difference. At first they do hurt! And I kept thinking, "Im never gonna get used to these!" But after a couple of days, you completely forget that its there! In fact, im looking forward to getting the proper fixed ones (Traintracks) Im gonna have pink ones! :)

Im getting braces tomorow. I'm worried that I wont look very attractive, and will probably get teased - but I know that loads of people have them so who cares! My teeth are really nice and white, but i don't think they could get any more messy and jagged in my mouth! x Can't wait till the final result in 2 years.

Hey i've had a take in and out brace for around a year now, i can see some difference and my teeth arent as bad and im only half way through now, yeh i admit that you just want to get it over and done with because they are not very nice! but at the end i will have a lovely smile, so im looking forward to having a traintrack soon because this on keeps breaking oppsss!
