Slink Beaver

Beaver Bulletin #81: Bully Beav

Humanses!
As we all know, the secret to a long and happy life is to treat people the way you'd like to be treated yourself. Well this also applies to beavers.

We've all had the experience of feeling picked on, and wondering how best to deal with it. Do you tackle things head on? Do you keep a low profile? Do you go back to the dam-side with the unflattering picture of yourself on it and cover it with a layer of fresh mud, so no-one ever sees it? We've all been there...

So, what I wanted to say, from the bottom of my furry little heart, is that if you're in a tight spot, you could do much worse than have a look at this Bullyproof website that Radio 1 have set up. There's tons of advice there, and celeb tips, most of which apply equally to human and beaverkind.

And while you're looking at the web, why not have a nosey at the amazing things Slink have done this week:
"Playing the field?" - In Boy's View
Ice-cream vs Paper Cuts - In Slink Loves
Would you say you have an alter-ego? - Your Say
Too much of a tomboy? - in Friend Chat
"What should I buy a girl for their birthday?" - in Girl's View
Your Label - final episodes!

A French woman - from the old BBC comedy 'Allo 'Allo

Hey Helen,

First of all, can I tell you that I took this problem to the rest of Team Slink, to get the best advice possible, and let's just say some people were more helpful than others (Slink Grant, I am looking at you).

Aaaanyway, here's what we came up with:
Stripey top (and v this season so bonus.)
- H&M have loads, as do New Look.

Black skirt, fitted rather than flarey.

Also, a beige mac always looks French, and maybe a neck-scarf worn to the side.

Then there's the accessories. A little eiffel tower necklace, perhaps, or a French-English phrasebook that you must refer to before replying to anyone in English.

Saving the best for last, how about red, white and blue eyeshadow?

This would probably look a bit mad, actually, but still...

A grandma and grandad and their precious grandchild

Spread The Love

Dear Slink
You know you take things for granted? DON'T.

My Grandma and Grandad died this year in the space of three months and I have never felt so alone, I loved them both dearly and it makes me feel so awful I didnt spend enough time with them even though I was very close to them both.

I just wanted to let all Slink know that you dont miss something half as much until its gone so make the effort, go sleep over at your grandparents, take your gran shopping, because when they arent there it hurts and makes you wish you had.
Charlotte, 15

Hi Charlotte

Thanks for writing in. I'm sorry you're hurting right now. You're absolutely right that none of us take the time to be thankful for the good things and good people we have around us, and sometimes it's just too late to do it.

This doesn't just apply to grandparents, but parents, guardians, siblings, old friends, new friends, favourite teachers...everyone needs to be told how important they are from time to time.

In fact, everyone reading this now should pick someone special to them, and go and tell them they're amazing. You'll probably make their day, and they won't ever forget it.
