Unfortunately there are no hard and fast rules! Plus, it's a pretty delicate kind of situation - so make sure you tread very carefully.

I guess it would depend on how close your friendship is, how much you like this boy, and how long your friend was together with him.

If you think getting involved with him may mean you and your friend fall out, you need to decide whether or not he is worth it. Obviously you like him, but is he worth losing a good friend over?

If not, then I would say leave it. Guys come and go, but good friends will always stick around. If you really like him and think your friend would be ok with it then maybe go for it? You could try talking to your friend first to see what their reaction might be.

Whatever you do, act with caution, as ultimately someone may end up not being happy, and it might be you. Hope everything works out ok.
