Friends, eh? They can be flippin hard work. You keep emailing us about them, so we're putting as many of your questions as we can up here >>>

Where should I go for a first date?

A film clapperboard

My guy friend has recently started messaging me, asking if i fancy going out one night. I haven't had a proper relationship for over a year and i'm not sure what to do!!

I relly fancy him but i didn't think he liked me back til now, and i'm still not quite sure...

He's left me to decide the activity, but which one, bowling or the cinema??

HELP!!

Jade, 14

A bowling ball

Ah! The eternal first-date dilemma. It's a tough call, Hannah. As you're undecided about whether or not to pursue a relationship with this boy, a first date is a good chance to get to know him in that "could-we-be-a-couple?" sort of way.

There's lots of potential for good banter and hilarious bonding antics at bowling - "Oh whoops I seem to have hurled the ball into the wrong lane - aren't I adorably clumsy?"

But what if there's no spark and it all goes horribly wrong? No-one wants to bowl with Awkward Silence in the room.

At least there's no danger of that at the cinema, where the most you'll need to speak is to whisper a marvellously witty comment about the film to your date.

Then again, if it's not meant to be, you may simply be delaying the inevitable by taking the easy cinema option. You'll only have to go on another date sooner or later that WILL involve speaking.

Hmmm...

My advice is to seize the day and pick bowling. That way, you've a much better chance of knowing at the end of the date whether or not it's worth getting into a relationship.

And worst case scenario, you can always look around for the fittest lad in the room and 'accidentally' hurl your ball down his lane.
