You've been sending us your inspiring, terrifying, sweet, and hilarious real life stories for ages now. We love reading them so we decided to turn three of the best stories into films.
You can watch On Ice, a chilling tale of bullying, here.
And Slink reporter Anna visited the set to meet the stars and find out how the film was made...
Lights, camera, SKATE!
Feb 3rd: Far too early in the morning...
If you thought filmmaking was glamourous, think again. It's all about very very early starts. So that's why I'm hanging around outside Bristol ice rink at stupid o'clock in the morning.
I'm visiting the set of "On Ice", one of the special Real Life films we've commissioned for the new Slink site.
Being on set is an exciting experience. There's so much going on. Heavy, expensive looking equipment is being carried out on to the ice. A microphone is taped to a pair of skates. And extras are, quite literally, getting their skates on.
Natalie in make-up
Make-Up
In the middle of all this bustle, the stars of the film, teens Natalie Philips, and Leah Morgan, are having their make up done.
"It's the first film I've done, but they're really taking care of us," Leah explains as a pinky blusher is applied to her cheekbone.
In fact, it's not the acting that worries her, it's the skating. "Trying to do a spin was funny," she told me. "I just about got the hang of it."
In the first scene of the day, "Girl 1" aka Keira Sommers has to fall over on the ice. It takes a few takes for Keira to perfect the art of falling on her arse.
"It hurt!" she laughs, drying off in the kit room.
Extras! Extras!
Natalie Philips (Louisa) knows all about bullying.
She's been involved in KidScape, a charity that councils the victims of bullies, for some time.
And when she heard that On Ice tackled the issue she was keen to get involved. I asked her about KidScape...
"In the workshops people get to step outside themselves and think about why they are being targeted by bullies," she told me. "People learn to say "No" to being bullied and put a stop to it."
"Bullying is something that happens in all walks of life and it's a life experience that you have to learn and move on from."
Meeting the Crew
After chatting to the actresses in the kit room, I head downstairs to meet some of the crew who are hard at work on the ice.
One crew member who's hard to miss is Mena. She's in charge of making sure everyone's in position for each shot. "Harrison, turn round and skate in the opposite direction!" she shouts from the rink side, he instantly obeys. Mena has lots of filmmaking experience but found filming in an ice rink was a new challenge. "My feet are cold," she reveals.
Once Mena has got everyone in position, Esther can direct the action. She's taking a hands-on approach to directing and spends the shoot skating around the ice, describing each scene to the actors and crew so that everyone knows exactly what she wants.
DOP Louie gets his shot
On thin ice
The ice rink location causes some complications for the dedicated crew. Louie, the DOP, has to navigate the ice with his heavy camera.
Luckily he grew up in Norway and has been skating for years so his natural ability on the ice stopped any potentially disastrous camera to ice instances.
Producer Rachel takes a tumble during the filming of scene six. She bashes her arm but it's nothing a hot cup of tea won't sort out. All in a days work for a producer really!
Extras! Extras!
We all break for lunch but it's soon time to get back on the ice. Most of the extras have been here all day and their starting to feel the burn on their thigh muscles after all that skating.
I chatted to Ben, Ben and Sarah, Film students from Bristol who'd jumped at the chance to hang out on the ice all day, and observe the filming process at the same time.
Some extras are slightly more experienced. Ice dancer, Sylvia Foote told me that she skates about 4 days a week and enters around 7 competitions a year. She's responsible for some of the fancy footwork you'll see in the film.
It's been a long, cold but fun day. We seem to have got through loads of shots and I can't wait to see the finished film...
