Boy's View

Updated: Wednesday

Slink's resident boy reveals the inner workings of his kind

Are boys put off by spots?

I'm not going to lie to you, there's nothing sexy about a globule of gunk glowering at you from a chick's chin.

There isn't a blackhead in the world that can improve a person's appearance, so boys prefer it when girls don't have them plastered all over their mush.

But we also prefer it when girls laugh at all our jokes and make us a packed lunch every day. In other words, we're not expecting miracles.

Everyone gets spots, even pop stars and babies (probably). Yet people get so horrified by each new zit you'd think someone had taped a lump of poo to their face.

We're obsessed with our own looks, but no one else really cares, especially not boys.

You could be constantly aware of a spot, while a boy wouldn't notice it at all. Plus, lads have even more spots than you, so we're in no position to discriminate. We're normally too busy worrying about our own zits to notice yours.

The good thing about spots (apart from squeezing them) is that they go away. So a boy would be silly to shun you for something that will be irrelevant within a week. It's like dumping someone for having a cough.

When it boils (heh) down to it, we're not really that bothered about acne. There are 100 more important things in a girl, like personality and giving you crisps.

But seriously, most boys will take a nice spotty girl over a horrible one with perfect skin... especially if she makes us a packed lunch.

Please remember: Kev is not an expert, he is just a boy and sometimes quite a silly boy. The main thing to remember when it comes to lads and relationships is to expect respect as the absolute minimum. Find out more about a Women's Aid campaign of the same name.
