Boy's View

Updated: every other Wednesday

Slink's resident boy reveals the inner workings of his kind

Why do boys call smart girls spoffs and date all the girls who pretend to be dumb?

Well, remember lots of boys are pretty dumb too, not to mention shallow. These nincompoops probably see numerous benefits to dating a fellow simpleton.

One, she won't notice - or care - if you're also a bit slow. For many boys, conversations are a struggle at the best of times, so the thought of going out with someone who might start conversations at the drop of a hat is terrifying.

True, dumb girls might not get our jokes - but she'll laugh at them anyway, which is the most important thing. And most importantly, it means we can watch ChuckleVision all day long without her judging us.

The sad fact is, dumb girls are easier to bamboozle if you have to explain yourself out of an awkward situation, like:

Her: "Why didn't you call last night?"

You: "I had to stay late at school because me and Barack Obama were inventing a new type of apple."

Her: "Oh… that does sound kind of important. Fair enough, I forgive you."

You: "No worries babe, can we watch ChuckleVision now?

Her: "Yeah."

Obviously, I'm being silly. Because intelligence is actually one of the most attractive traits a girl can have. It's far nicer to spend time with a girl who stimulates your mind, rather than just your loins. Boys that really obviously go for dumb girls are probably intimidated by girls who are smarter than them.

But hold on a second, what do you mean, girls who "pretend" to be dumb? Are you saying those lovely bimbos aren't as ditsy as they make out? No wonder I keep getting dumped. She said she liked ChuckleVision…

Please remember: Kev is not an expert, he is just a boy and sometimes quite a silly boy. The main thing to remember when it comes to lads and relationships is to expect respect as the absolute minimum. Find out more about a Women's Aid campaign of the same name.
