Are boys scared off by potential girlfriends' friends?
Er. no!
Not unless she's mates with Lauren, or Godzilla, or Cheryl Tweedy. If they're not going to beat us up, why would we be scared off by them? Potential birds' mates are a useful source of info and advice. If we can get them to like us, we stand a better chance with the girl we like, so we welcome their existence.
There are exceptions. If we want to approach a girl and ask her out or something, we'd rather she was on her own. If her posse were there, that would definitely make it scarier. There's also the fact that girls tell their mates everything so if things go pear-shaped you might make some girl enemies. This is bad because: a) you can't fight girls and b) girls are capable of unspeakable evil, when they want to be.
Despite all this, if some chick starts rocking our world, we don't give a flying fish what her friends think or what problems they might cause. We're too romantic for that. When I say romantic, I mean reckless. And when I say reckless, I mean stupid. Such is our arrogance that we're more likely to think all our girlfriend's mates fancy us. It wouldn't cross our mind that they might regard us as a complete idiot who must be stopped at all costs.
So the real answer is that we're not scared of a girl's mates. but perhaps we should be.
Please remember: Kev is not an expert, he is just a boy and sometimes quite a silly boy. The main thing to remember when it comes to lads and relationships is to expect respect as the absolute minimum. Find out more about a Women's Aid campaign of the same name.
