Boy’s View

Updated: Wednesday

Slink's resident boy reveals the inner workings of his kind

Why do fit girls go out with ugly boys, but fit boys never go out with ugly girls?

You tell us, you're the ones going for geezers with faces that'd make Wayne Rooney want to look away.

But seriously, what can I say? That we're shallow? That we'd rather spend time with a beautiful psycho than a hilarious ogre? Of course not. well, not entirely.

Looks are more important to lads than girls. Not massively, but they are. The reason is that you lot manage to find so many things that make a lad attractive. self-confidence, wit, nice shoes.

Our requirements are more, well. primal. We're not proud of it, but boys are a bit like that.

That's why fit girls are more likely to find happiness with a minger. and it sure is encouraging news for ugly blokes.

But don't give up on us yet. Even if looks are the first thing we look for, a relationship based solely on mutual bone structure appreciation won't last.

When it comes to the crunch and finding we've clicked with that special someone, looks suddenly become less important. We start working on a higher level - appreciating things like character, substance and intellect. In other words, we go a bit girly.

And sometimes, that can only be a good thing.

Please remember: Kev is not an expert, he is just a boy and sometimes quite a silly boy. The main thing to remember when it comes to lads and relationships is to expect respect as the absolute minimum. Find out more about a Women's Aid campaign of the same name.
