Boy's View

Updated: Wednesday

Slink's resident boy reveals the inner workings of his kind

How do I know guys are over their exes?

Well they've split up - so that's a good start.

And if it was him that pulled the plug, even better. If he was dumped, it's more complicated.

There are some tell-tale signs if he's not over it: Has he forced you to wear any of her clothes? Is there a picture of her parents in his wallet? Does he still insist on getting her name tattooed on his forehead? If not, it might be hard to know for sure.

The spectre of the ex will always make us doubt ourselves. The same goes for boys. Was he better-looking than me? Was he funnier?

Did he have buffer forearms or cooler trainers? Was he, heaven forbid, a better dancer? We can get jealous of someone we've never met, based purely on our imagination.

But worrying about exes is pointless. They are from the past and should be left there. Like the Crazy Frog.

Grilling someone about old romances is also best avoided. It could be awkward and bring back painful memories. Like the Crazy Frog.

It can cause suspicion when a lad is still friends with his ex, but this is often the most wholesome thing of all. The fact he's normal with her means she's probably out of his system.

Even if he isn't totally over another girl, it needn't ruin things. Going out with someone new (e.g. you) is the one thing that will help him forget her.

Just try not to wear any of his ex bird's clothes or start hanging around with her mum and dad.

Please remember: Kev is not an expert, he is just a boy and sometimes quite a silly boy. The main thing to remember when it comes to lads and relationships is to expect respect as the absolute minimum. Find out more about a Women's Aid campaign of the same name.
