Boy's View

Updated: Wednesday

Slink's resident boy reveals the inner workings of his kind

If a guy likes chick flicks is he mad?

This is one weird question.

Mad, you say? Hmm. There are various signs a boy might be mad, for instance...

1) He thinks he's French when he isn't.
2) Instead of saying "that" he says "chugs".
3) He wants to live in the fridge.
4) He ate his dad.
5) He thinks 'He's Just Not That Into You' is the best film ever.

OMG, maybe you're right! He's a boy who likes a film that was made for girls! What a loon.

Or rather, he's not mad to like chick flicks, but he's mad to admit it. That's because it's the kind of thing that will get him dissed by boys who claim they don't like chick flicks. Which is all of them... Or is it?

There's actually no reason a boy shouldn't like a rollicking romcom. Relationships, romance, happy endings, cheesy jokes; plenty of lads dig that stuff.

Boys are just as sensitive as girls, really. They're just not always as good at showing it.

And if you go round calling a lad mad just because he thinks Jennifer Aniston is the greatest actor of our times, he will only retreat further into his shell.

You'll create a strange, secretive creature who scares himself silly watching Saw films, when all he really wants to do is curl up infront of Mean Girls.

Obviously, I love the Saw films...

Slink says:
Psst. We have seen Kev's DVD library and it goes thusly: Mean Girls, Bring It On, Bring It On Again, Saw (unwrapped), Bring It On 3: All or Nothing... Yes that's right Kev, we brought it.

Please remember: Kev is not an expert, he is just a boy and sometimes quite a silly boy. The main thing to remember when it comes to lads and relationships is to expect respect as the absolute minimum. Find out more about a Women's Aid campaign of the same name.
