One thing we love about the holiday season is curling up in front of a fire (or radiator) with a good book
In no particular order here's ten of our fave winter reads. Have a look and then tell us yours.
1) A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
A lovely heartwarming story about friendship, loneliness and a girl who pretends to be a princess. It makes you so glad to have someone to share the holidays with. (Slink Vicki)
2)Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling
Rowling really makes you want to go to Hogsmead and drink some Butterbeer at Crimbo. (Slink Aiss)
3)Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
The whole series. Nothing beats a bit of slushy romance and cold skinned sexy vampire-ness! (Slink Aiss)
4) Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
Things become so much more magical at Christmas and there aren't any Christmas books more magical than this. So don't judge me too much for frantically checking the back of my wardrobe after reading these classics. (Slink Vicki)
5)The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series by Douglas Adams
It's hilarious, just weird enough, and leaves you feeling like you've been hugged by an alien. In a good way. (Slink Trev)
6)Northern Lights by Philip Pullman
All Lyra's running around in the snow makes you that much happier to be in the warm. (Slink Aiss)
7)A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
Or should that be 'A Christmas Classic'? No Crimbo is complete without this. And after reading, you can watch The Muppet Christmas Carol and marvel not only at it's muppetness, but also it's cleverosity. Plus you can point out to those less educated: 'oh, yes, that is an actual line from the novel'. (Slink Vicki)
9)Ghost Stories by M. R. James
Proper creepy classic ghost stories from olden times. These are perfect for curling up in front of the fire on a stormy night and giving yourself a few wintery chills...(Slink Anna)
2) The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien
My favourite book ever. You can't beat being snuggled in a blanket with some tea, biscuits, dragons, elves and a three foot hobbit called Bilbo (Slink Sam)
10) Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
It's dead good, romantic, and Gigi wrote in saying she's been loving it (Gigi, 16 and Slink Anna)

Goodnight Mister Tom by Michelle Magorian. Because when Willie is in his 'happy-ever-after' and learns what love should be like, it has a proper christmassy feel. (can you tell it's my favourite book? mmm. i thought so. i think i'm gonna stop now ...) xxx love you slinky
