Terms of trade

Two men in a meeting

Any offer of work at the BBC is conditional on your acceptance of the relevant terms of trade and you should speak to your BBC contact prior to beginning the engagement if you have any concerns about the terms you have been issued.

For the majority of 'non-front-of-camera freelance engagements, the BBC standard Freelance terms of trade below will apply.

If you are being engaged as a freelance Producer or Director, the relevant terms are incorporated into your letter of engagement and can vary from engagement to engagement. You must therefore ensure you have received and read all contractual paperwork prior to beginning the engagement.

In addition, there may be terms specific to the engagement, depending on the role you are undertaking and which part of the BBC the engagement is with. It is therefore very important that you ascertain with your BBC contact, at the time of each individual booking, which terms apply to that particular engagement.

The information below is therefore for general guidance only and does not supersede any advice or information given at the time of booking.

If you are providing your freelance services as an individual.

If you are providing your personal services through a fully incorporated service company.

If the engagement is with BBC Resources Ltd, these Freelance terms of trade will apply to that engagement.
