Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply Gold Accreditation

The BBC's group procurement team has been awarded the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Corporate Partnership Programme Gold accreditation, which follows silver accreditation in December 2002.  The BBC is the first media sector and first public sector organisation to achieve this; the other holders are ASDA Walmart, Computer Science Corporation (Northern European region) and Novar Intelligent Building Systems (part of the Novar Group).

CIPS award

Procurement was assessed against 20 different categories covering a wide range of topics from building strategic supplier relationships to the use of technology, from recruiting good procurement people to continuing to develop them, and from their ability to innovate and to communicate effectively.  In addition a number of internal customers and suppliers were interviewed regarding their perception of Procurement.  The Gold Award tells Procurement’s customers and suppliers that the BBC’s procurement processes and practises meet a world class standard.
