More info:
The walk starts at Stoke Bridge, Ipswich and goes along the Waterfront as far as the landing stage for the Orwell Lady river cruises (0.5 mile). It then returns to Stoke Bridge (1 mile) before crossing the road and taking the path that runs alongside the River Gipping up to the weir, just beyond Princes Street railway bridge (1.5 miles). You can either leave the walk here, or return to Stoke Bridge (2 miles in total).

Getting there:
By bus:
There are many buses coming into the town from different areas. Check out your route and timetable on the Ipswich Buses website.

By car: Drive to the car park at Cardinal Park, off Grafton Way, or one of the other adjacent town centre car parks. These car parks are pay and display. Or use one of the Ipswich Park and Ride facilities.
Walk conditions
The waterfront is a busy working environment with moving cars and lorries, and deep water in the dock. It is accessible for buggies and wheelchairs, but great care should be taken along this section of the walk.

The River Gipping path on the other side of the bridge has a hard surface and has recently been cleared. The early part, just beyond the skate park and as far as the sarsen stones, is accessible for buggies and wheelchairs.

The section after that is accessible with great care as the path narrows in places and the bank drops down steeply to the river. It is also advisable not to walk this section alone.
