My Grandparents, Mr John Phillips Harper and Mrs Betty Harper (deceased) were the butler and cook to the Guinness family up until the death of Lord Iveagh's mother Elizabeth who married Mr More'O'Ferral to whom my Grandfather was his personal butler.

Yes, the Column was created and erected to commemorate local vilages coming together - Eriswell, Brandon and others.
