Kitten are riding high in the Album charts with their latest offering,
Feels So Good.
Relying on the Blondie cover The Tide Is High to hype the
album in the singles charts, was clearly a clever move as the song
debuted at number one. However I'm sure the old army of Blondie
fans simply detested it.
I for one was not a huge fan of the original anyway and I have to
say that in some respects Atomic Kitten improved it, but only marginally!
So with this in mind, I approached the rest of the album with a
little trepidation. But in all fairness I was pleasantly surprised.
of all, Kitten fans certainly get value for money as they have managed
to squeeze a generous 14 tracks on to the CD.
The first song which is by far the best on the album is the immediately
catchy It's OK!. To say that things go downhill from then
on would be a little unfair. There are a few gems amongst the numerous
tracks. So Hot is a nice little ditty and my feet tapped along to
Love Won't Wait.
But here's the bad news. The albums' production is at best unadventurous
and at worst repetitive and very unoriginal. But then, you can't
blame the band themselves for this. Why producers these days rely
solely on computers to generate the backing track is beyond me.
Every song on the album has an irritating electronically produced
drum machine beat bashing away to the girls singing.
It's a shame that both Girlbands and Boybands find it necessary
to stick to such a formulaic sound. The Sugarbabes have proved with
their recent fare, that if you have real musicians pumping out your
sounds it can give what sometimes is mundane music, more of a cutting
Kitten never pretend to be anything other than disposable pop. They
know their target audience and this album is aimed directly at them.
And it's for this reason that it will sell by the skip-load.
its an album which I will occasionally re-visit as its one of the
better CD's within the pop genre. But at the end of the day this
type of music just isn't my bag.
mark out of 10: 6
How could you give this album a six out of 10, all the songs on
the album are repetitive, and have you noticed the order in which
they sing it always the same first its Tash then Jen then Elle and
nearly every song on there album is a cover song. I think there
vocals are also not as good as people like the sugarbaes or destiny's
child. There just good looking and tarty and thats how they sell
