Visit the archaeological dig of Gosnold's original settlement at
Jamestown.
(The fort was built there and archaeologists are busy investigating
the site and coming across many artefacts of the time. Will they
find Gosnold's remains?)
Go aboard the replica ship Godspeed which carried Gosnold across
the Atlantic in 1607 and visit Native Americans.
Thursday
27th June
Fly north to Massachusetts and continue to Falmouth on Cape Cod.
Friday
28th June
Visit Martha's Vineyard for a tour with Tobias Vanderhoop of the
Wampanaog Native Americans.
(Gosnold named the place after his daughter Martha who is buried
in the Great Churchyard in Bury St Edmunds)

29th June - 30th June
Travel to Cape Cod with members of the Falmouth Historical Society.
Monday
1st July
Travel to New Bedford.
Tuesday
2nd July
Talk with Professor Len Travers of the University of Massachusetts
and meet up with Daphne Storey (nee Gosnold) at the Whaling Museum
in New Bedford to look at the only known carving of Bartholomew
Gosnold.
Wednesday
3rd July
Sail to Cuttyhunk Island, the site of Gosnold's fort in 1602 and
the first known settlement of an Englishman in America.
Thursday
4th July
Observe parade on Cuttyhunk in honour of said explorer where locals
are re-enacting the landing in costume of the day.
Watch 4th July celebrations in the city.
Friday
5th July
Return home from Boston.
