Dean Gould, 38, from Felixstowe can toss a pancake an amazing 424 times in two minutes!

So what makes a good tosser?

"Dexterity, basically, skilful-handedness," says Dean.

"With pancake tossing you have got to have certain conditions.

"The Guinness guidelines state that it’s got to be a certain size frying pan, a certain consistency with the pancake. It’s over a two minute period and it’s the most flips in that time that count."

Dean GouldDean also holds three Guinness World records ranging from beer mat flipping to coin snatching and Winkle picking.

In fact it is those records that got him started with pancake tossing.

"I got started because I already had two records. I had the beer mat flipping and coin snatching for many years and I was looking for other records.

"I had considered pancake tossing. So I started practising one day with a plate and a whoopee cushion believe it or not! Sounds funny but it actually did go quite well in training so I actually started tossing the real thing then."

Dean was ten when he first became interested in record breaking.

"I used to watch Record Breakers when I was a boy, and then I had a Guinness Book of Records given to me, and I really wanted to be like those people.

"I was 20 when I got my first record, which was beer mat flipping. The most Guinness Records that I have held at once is ten."

For Dean, practice makes perfect. But it is not easy holding on to his title. Four years ago he lost his title to a German competitor.

Pancake"Well I hold three records at the moment, so I’m not too worried about trying to get this record back.

"It’s a very difficult record to beat as it’s 416 in 2 minutes and my best is 424, but the record wasn’t witnessed under the right conditions so my best is 399 officially."

Dean has now launched his own website, Record Holders Republic, which lists his individual records as well as those of others. The site now has 40 members whose records range from the fastest window cleaner of all time to one of the World's best animal impersonators.

Dean says that anyone can join the site: "We will except almost anything as long as it's not offensive or dangerous."

Pancake tossing may be serious business for Dean, but it does not mean he enjoys eating them afterwards.

"I’m more of an omelette fan really, I don’t like pancakes, they just end up in the bin. I throw them away, best place for them!
