FACTS

One historic monument has been lost every day since the end of World War Two.

There are 17,000 historic buildings and monuments in the UK at risk.

On an average weekend, more people visit historic buildings in the UK than go to football matches.

This summer BBC2 will be travelling all over the UK looking at our architectural heritage. Each programme in the series will feature three buildings from one geographical area.

Viewers will then be asked to vote to help save one of our thirty most endangered buildings.

Restoration - what is it?
It is about making people care about our old and new buildings that are in need of repair. Since the end of World War Two one historic monument has been lost every day.

To highlight this problem BBC2 is running a series of ten programmes this summer looking at endangered buildings all over the country.

The programme will be presented by comedian and active conservationist Griff Rhys Jones, who lives in Suffolk. He will ask viewers to vote to help save one of our thirty most endangered buildings.

What is happening in Suffolk
BBC Radio Suffolk is highlighting restoration in the county in different ways.

They are not just looking at buildings, but other types of restoration too. Here are just a few of the highlights. Listen to the interviews.
