It crept over Orford ness and rounded Wickham Market, its target the port of Harwich. At Martlesham it dropped a bomb and then the defenses opened up.

The Zeppelin was hit. On fire it limped back up the coast, it crashed near the small village of Theberton.

Today it is hard to tell where the airship crashed but an amazing set of photographs has meant the event will never be forgotten, that and the fact that most local people seem to have their own souvenirs even though the wreckage was supposed to be guarded by local servicemen.
