It is believed that around 100 people would have lived off the land and hunted wild animals on the site back in Anglo-Saxon times.

The village is unique because it is the only Anglo-Saxon reconstruction built on its original site.

Original tools and techniques have been used to build houses that the orignal Anglo-Saxons would have felt at home in.

The buildings and display center at West Stow are open all the time and on special occaisions the village is even populated by a group of coustumed volunteers.

It is best to check with the centre for the exact dates and times of any special events.

Have you ever been to West Stow? What did you think?
