im only 13 but i love southwold, i stay with my family in the campsite which is the best ever. we go every year for a week in the summer and im comeing again soon so i was looking at these photos because i was so excited. i don't know why, but whenevr we go me and my sis whos now 16 we act like children because it reminds us of when we used to come when we were toddlers, and when we would buy sweets in the traditional sweet shop and by kites and bucket and spades in the post office. And oh yeh when we would eat fish a chips on the benches over looking the beach and have a drink and a bag of crisps in the pub.i am so excited but we are still in england and we are staying in a tent so it better not rain, the last time we went it was thunder storms and terrential rain. so we went home after 2 nights rather than 7.

So miss my childhood days on the Suffolk coast, 25 years in South Africa now but have fond memories of my father Ian playing jazz with the 'Sole Bay' and 'Vintage Hot' he was rather fond of a pint of Adanams'

Have just come back from a week in Southwold. It's a lovely place, with a great beach, though unfortunately the weather wasn't that good. Would definately recommend a visit.

when i was younger we used to go southwold every year, i think its a shame that the lovely little seaside village has turned into just another seaside resort. i still love going back but its not the same as it was 10yrs ago.

The photos originally followed the route of the 'Discovering Southwold' walk, although a few extra ones were included e.g. the ferry at Walberswick. If you would like to submit additional pictures we would be very happy to add them to the galleries. Send them to: suffolk@bbc.co.uk

MS LEIGH BEEBY

i think that there should be more pictures of the beach huts and less close ups on statues.

I moved from Suffolk 5 years ago to be nearer my family in Cornwall. But to look at this gallery of pictures makes me home sick- how i wish to be there. Cornwall is beautiful but Suffolk is peace, big skies, and a gentle way with life.

We discovered Southwold in the eigthties ( it rained so heavy we had to abandon our tent ), a second visit followed in the nineties and this year we stayed there for the third time. This town and its location , the absence of so-called attractions has a caming affect which make it the perfect place to be. And then there are pubs .... bookshops and the Sailor's Reading Room.... and ....the ferry to Walberswick..... Wish to be there
