A new version of a traditional fairy tale
A new version of a traditional tale

A contemporary slant on a favourite tale....

The Theatre Royal takes children's theatre on tour for the first time this spring, with a new adaptation of Hansel and Gretel.

Booking information

Hansel and Gretel is at the Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds from Friday 11th to Wednesday 16th February 2005.

Friday has special performances for schools, Saturday the show opens to the public.

Tickets are priced from £5.00 - £9.00 with family tickets available.

Public performances are:

Sat: 2pm, Mon: 6.45pm, Tue: 2pm and 6.45pm; Wed: 11am

Specially written by writer-in-residence, Carl Miller, this traditional story has been reworked with a contemporary relevance, whilst still preserving the dark undertones of the original story from the Brothers Grimm.

Finding themselves lost in the woods, Hansel and Gretel discover an enchanting house made entirely of brightly coloured sweets.  They tuck in - only to be met by the wicked witch who owns the delicious cottage - and who has plans for a meal of her own.....

The production promises to be strikingly visual, with colour and light complemented by live music, written by composer-in-residence Francis Goodhand, and specially choreographed dance sequences.
