Parishes can now load specific details about themselves directly onto the hi-tech site at www.achurchnearyou.com

Details about the churches include service times, special events, Sunday school, music, parking, disabled facilities etc.

"I am delighted that Suffolk’s parishes now have the opportunity to post details of their work
ahead of the celebrations of Easter Day, the greatest day in the Christian calendar," says Nick Clarke, Diocesan Communications Director.

"With five in eight homes in the country having
internet access, the new site is a wonderful way for Suffolk’s parishes to be able to promote
their work and mission to a wider public."

The names and locations of all of Suffolk’s parishes have been pre-loaded onto the site and software, developed by the Diocese of Oxford, allow parishes to add specific details about
themselves directly to the site.

The Diocese of St Edmundsbury & Ipswich joins the dioceses of Oxford, Norwich, Truro,
Bradford and Southwark who are already on-line.

"The site is designed for web browsers to identify which parish they are in, or help them select a church which best matches their needs and tastes," says Nick.

Tim, York

I think it is good that the church of england want to promote themselves. But its is a little misleading to call it www.achurchnearyou.com when it is ONLY C of E churches!
Steve, Ipswich

I could only fing C of E churches on the site. How could I find out about other churches in Lowestoft? Thank heavens the devil hasn't got all the good tunes!
Tony, Lowestoft
