This
360 degree picture was taken on the quay near Shotley Marina, overlooking
Harwich Bay. The cranes in the far distance are at the Port of Felixstowe.
Shotley Marina is one mile from open sea and is situated at the
confluence of the rivers Stour and Orwell.
The Stour and Orwell estuaries are internationally important for
birdlife and are designated as a Special Protection Area. Since
this is also a busy commercial shipping lane it requires sensitive
management to protect and conserve the mudflats and saltmarshes.
