Dances - American Smooth

The American Smooth incorporates steps from four Ballroom disciplines - the Waltz, Viennese Waltz, Tango and Foxtrot.

It is more elaborate and creative than ballroom dancing - think Fred and Ginger.

It's a chance to demonstrate showmanship without the usual restrictions of British Ballroom Dancing and without losing the beauty of the dance.

Couples must be in hold for only 40% of the dance (it doesn't matter what stage and it doesn't have to be continuous).

Routines can incorporate a lift, show shuffles etc.

Dancers have the scope to choreograph a routine with WOW factor that will impress both the judges and the viewers.
