Week Six
What did the judges think of our couples quarter-final routines?
You could really feel the Fever this week, as our competitors took to the floor to dance for a place in the semi-final. This week they had to perform three dances - a Lindyhop, a Milonga and a group Linedance.
DARREN and LANA danced the first Lindyhop of the night to Jump Jive and Wail. Wayne was overly pleased with their efforts, saying, "The Lindyhop is named after Charles Lindbergh who flew across the Atlantic... and the way you two hopped around there it certainly looked like you were hopping across the Atlantic."
Scores: Ben: 9, Arlene: 9, Wayne: 9, Stacey: 9 = 36
JP and STACEY danced their Lindyhop to It Don't Mean a Thing. Ben felt that they were "a little too upright" and Arlene agreed, saying that it was "a little too Snow White", adding, "It didn't wow me; it wasn't quite there."
Scores: Ben: 7, Arlene: 8, Wayne: 8, Stacey: 7 = 30
Next up, DARRIEN and HOLLIE danced their Lindyhop to When You're Smiling. Stacey said, "It was neat, it was clean but I would have loved to see a few more aerials from you guys beacuse you know what you like, you could fling her all over the place!" Ben, however, felt the aerials that they did do were good: "There was a lot of height... There was a lot of personality".
Scores: Ben: 8, Arlene: 7, Wayne: 8, Stacey: 8 = 31
MARK and JENNIFER danced their Lindyhop to This Ole House. While Stacey told them they were all over the place, saying, "You need to bring it down, it needs to look effortless," Wayne said, "You get better and better," to which Ben added, "(Jennifer's) a firecracker! You gave a hell of a lot of energy, however, you've lost some connection - focus on being together again!".
Scores: Ben: 7, Arlene: 7, Wayne: 7, Stacey: 6 = 27
BEN and STEPHANNIE danced the last Lindyhop of the night to Hi De Ho. Ben felt their dancing looked "effortless and very slick", and Arlene said, "You've mastered the style - you two could be wonderful but something's not connecting," with Stacey adding, "You could do better."
Scores: Ben: 8, Arlene: 9, Wayne: 8, Stacey: 9 = 35
At the end of the Lindy round, Darren and Lana came top with the judges.
DARREN and LANA returned to the floor to dance the final Milonga of the night to Milonga De Mis Amores. The judges all agreed that they pulled of a great performance, with Arlene saying, "That was just romantic, that was a full-blown affair!" and Ben adding, "You two have the connection down!"
Scores: Ben: 9, Arlene: 10, Wayne: 10, Stacey: 9 = 38
JP and STACEY danced their Milonga to Kiss Me. Wayne was not happy with Stacy's leg movement, asking, "If you've been going to ballet classes, when you stick your leg out, why can't it be straight?" Arlene admitted that she "thought it was a miserable Milonga - it should be smooth and seamless".
Scores: Ben: 5, Arlene: 5, Wayne: 6, Stacey: 7 = 23
Next up, DARRIEN and HOLLIE danced a Milonga to Kiss Kiss. Ben was blown away: "Complete respect. This is where you are supposed to be at in this competition. Electric, magical - well done!" Stacy agreed, saying, "Damn, look at that girl do the Milonga!"
Scores: Ben: 10, Arlene: 10, Wayne: 10, Stacey: 10 = 40
MARK and JENNIFER danced their Milonga to Sweet Dreams My LA Ex. Stacey said, "It wasn't a perfect Milonga - Jenny, your leg line was atrocious," and Arlene agreed, adding, "It was a dance disaster."
Scores: Ben: 7, Arlene: 4, Wayne: 7, Stacey: 6 = 24
BEN and STEPHANNIE danced their Milonga to Lost Without You. Ben said their dance "oozes sensuality", but claimed they could have doubled up their timing. Arlene said, "I loved the swagger," while Ben told Steph, "You're better than you think you are!"
Scores: Ben: 9, Arlene: 8, Wayne: 8, Stacey: 8 = 33
Darrien and Hollie got the best mark for the Milonga from the judges, but overall Darren and Lana came top of the leader board. Remember, your votes count for half of the marks. Pick up the 'phone and vote for the couple you want to put through to the semi-final.

Wow This week Darren and Lana were amazing in everything, and for JP and Stacey the Lindyhop really suited them but I really don't thing Stacey quite has what it takes. This week I think they should be out I hope so because the other 3 couples really have something. I really would love to see Darren and Lana go through, I think they have something special and should go through, I would also love to see JP get some training because I really think he has something special too, and could go a long way.

They are all very talented but this week i think JP and Stacey should leave although they are both very tatented dancers but so are they all!! I'm torm between Darren and Lana and Darrien and Hollie. Those two couple should make the finals .

JP and Stacey are definitely my favourites!! They have the best personalities and attitude, which, regardless of judges scores is needed to get anywhere with a dream or ambition. They are very talented and everyone on this site has been very harsh. Cheltenham are voting!!

Takes a hell of a lot of courage to do your best with millions of eyes upon you, good luck to all the dancers, just love the spirit of JP and Stacey, they are REAL entertainers and this is what this is all about.

I'm not so sure why everyone is loving Darrien and Hollie so much. Yes, they are very good dancers, but it's always the very same expressions and styles, and as much as they said she was more of a lady, it didn't look like that to me.
The only pair in there that truly adopt the spirit of every single dance are Darren and Lana, they match eachother very well, and they dance their socks off without resorting to tricks and gimmicks, like the others. They are definitely the best all round dancers in there, and it'd be a fair result if they won. That'd be judged on the dancing, rather than who can do most gimmicks or who is best at one style. I'm rooting for them

Hollie and Darrien are fantastic, Im never disappointed when watchin them dance, they have such a great connection and that shows in their dancin. Darren and Lana are great they have really good chemistry when they dance together. Ben and Stephanie are good, however Ben needs to RELAX! and stop giving Stephanie such a hard time, she's a great dancer, and he has to make her believe that and booast her confidence. JP and Stacey- i am just gobsmacked. It was really gut wrenching to see poor Mark and Jennifer cruely knocked out like that when JP + Stacey have taken their place. It's not anything to do with Stacey's weight- Claire last year was fantastic regardless of her size. But she just can't dance. I would not pay money to go + see them perform. It's time to face facts guys- enough is enough.

I am not sure how the judges are judging this programme, Hollie fell yet they still got 10 from every judge, with the comments that they are not taking that into account, yet when someones leg is not pointed or straight enough its the end of the world. Please tell me how falling is better than not pointing a foot??????? They should get judges on that are FAIR.

After last week I think anything could happen this week, it's difficult to say who will be voted off this week, because even if they dance really good and with passion, they still have a chance to go. It really depands on the viewers. I'll be very disappointed, if one couple don't dance with high standard,passion and emotion and still stay in the competition because the viwers think they are a lovely couple. It means this's not a dancing competition, it's voting for the best couple competition. I would not be bothered to watch another show if there was another shock result tonight.
