Built by public subscription after the second world war on the site
of the former "White House" as a tribute to Reginald J Mitchell
( The Spitfire designer). It is a small intimate theatre with a maximum
seating capacity of 380, doing strictly amateur drama.
The diverse groups appearing at the theatre, mainly youth based, are
voluntary and self-motivated.
Productions featured range from concerts, dance displays, drama productions,
to popular musicals, all at easily affordable prices.
The "Mitch", as it is affectionately known, also sponsors annually
the accredited One Act Play Drama Festival.
It can be difficult trying to get information from the box-office
- which is not manned all the time - so you're better off going on
to the website which has all details of performances and membership.
The theatre is pleased to welcome new members on and off stage.
